Kyle Walker opens up on bust-up with Arsenal coach after Man City defeat

Kyle Walker has confirmed his bust-up with Arsenal staff member Nicolas Jover was instigated because he did not want to shake hands with the Arsenal coach after Manchester City's defeat at the Emirates - but did vow to apologise.

City slipped to a frustrating 1-0 defeat to Arsenal before the international break as their poor form continued. Gabriel Martinelli's late, deflected strike that gave the hosts a priceless victory in the Premier League title race.

It was Pep Guardiola's side's third domestic defeat in succession following a Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Newcastle United and a shock loss at Wolves. Frustrations boiled over at the full-time whistle as Walker, flanked by Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish, got into an altercation with Jover.

MEN Sport later learned that, while there were no problems with Jover - a former City coach - following Mikel Arteta to North London, there was disappointment among City players last season when Jover refused to shake their hands after their two league victories over Arsenal. When a few of the City players saw Jover stood ready to greet them after the Gunners broke their losing streak, Walker as captain felt the need to pull him up for his apparent hypocrisy before being escorted down the tunnel.

Walker has now explained what happened in his own words but admitted his behaviour was 'too much' and he will seek to reach out to Jover. “I don’t like losing," Walker explained on international duty.
