Harry Souttar to Rangers transfer rumour may already have answer as Michael Beale tease sends theory into overdrive

Michael Beale has ramped up speculation over who the next arrival at Rangers could be after admitting there is some "truth" in swirling rumours.

And Ibrox transfer sleuths reckons the confession could mean Harry Souttar is set to join from Leicester City amid swirling rumours of a switch to the Scottish Premiership side. Souttar faces an uncertain Foxes future with new King Power Stadium gaffer Enzo Maresca admitting the 24-year-old could be on his way out - and has yet to include the £15 million January signing in a squad so far this term.

And with the clock ticking on the summer window Souttar may have already dropped a hint that he would be open to a move to Govan - if it meant a reunion with brother John. The current Gers star has been a mainstay at the back so far this term alongside Connor Goldson - but Harry could be looking to take the Englishman's place in the backline.

Speaking before deciding to play for Australia, Harry admitted he had hoped to one day partner John at the heart of a defence. He said: "My ultimate ambition has always been to play for Scotland. Who knows, maybe one day I will partner John at the centre of defence for Scotland, but that's a long way into the future."

But just two years later, he accepted a call up for Australia's Olympic qualification squad for their training camp in Malaysia and qualifiers in Cambodia. Rangers would offer a major chance for the Socceroo to live out his childhood dream - which may not come again for the pair.

Speaking before the clash with Ross County, Beale told Sky Sports: "There's been a little bit in terms of now or two names out there. There's been a little bit of truth in that but nothing for us to confirm right now."
