Cantwell's career gauntlet, Rangers love in with Celtic Euro rival and £5m trigger unlocks return – Ibrox news bulletin

Former Rangers man Todd Cantwell has been told he must chip in with goals to give him Blackburn Rovers career lift off.

The playmaker joined the English Championship side on deadline day after former boss Philippe Clement dropped the star from the first-team plans following a transfer request. After leaving the Scottish Premiership behind, the 26-year-old appeared for Blackburn for the first time in the weekend win over Bristol City. But after the departure of prolific striker Sammie Szmodics to Ipswich Town last summer, Cantwell's teammate Ryan Hedges has warned the new recruits that they will have to get on the mark this season.

He said: "We've lost 33 goals from last season. We've got to replace that from somewhere. Most of the front four are off the mark. It doesn't have to be 30 from someone it could be ten to 15 from three or four players. All of the players who have come in have made a really positive impact. You can see what they bring."

After the failed move to bring in Davy Klaassen, Rangers appear to be in the free agent market as Clement looks to add experience to his squad. A player who looks set become available is Ryan Kent.
