Kobbie Mainoo told one thing he must remember to enjoy great Manchester United career

Manchester United's young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has been advised to remember his roots to ensure he enjoys a brilliant career in football.

Mainoo is at the very beginning of his career in the game and in the summer he was tipped to be the breakout talent for United this season. Unfortunately, this long-term plan for the 18-year-old hit a bump in the road during the US tour when the midfielder suffered an ankle injury against Real Madrid.

The teenager only made his return to competitive action in October and has featured in the EFL Trophy and the UEFA Youth League however his first senior appearance of the campaign is on hold. When asked about the advice he would give Mainoo as he makes his transition from the academy to the first team, former United midfielder Luke Chadwick told MEN Sport he must remember his journey to get to this stage.

He explained: "I think what Kobbie has done so far has been absolutely brilliant, he is a hugely gifted player and seems to have everything a central midfield player needs in terms of his passing range and his physicality on the ball. I think the advice I would give him is to keep doing what you are doing.

"A player like him who is doing so well is unlikely to be feeling a huge amount of pressure because when things are going well everything tends to run quite smoothly. Of course there will be dips in the road and challenges throughout his career but it is always a case of looking at why you started playing football, because it can get huge at a club like Manchester United, but remember to go back to those early days where it was about having fun.
