Killer who shot teen dead caught on camera running home in socks and flip-flops

A killer who shot a teenager dead was caught on camera running home in socks and sliders after the murder.

Martin Wilson, 37, then texted his dad and said 'just woke up'. Hours earlier he had fired one bullet from a Glock hand gun, which hit and killed 19-year-old Nyle Corrigan.

Wilson and another man, 26-year-old Connor Smith, were deemed as being equally culpable for Mr Corrigan's murder, the Liverpool Echo reports. He died at the scene following the shooting on Boode Croft in Stockbridge Village on November 12 2020. Both men were sentenced to life terms in prison and will serve a minimum of 32 years.

Following the men's sentencing, Merseyside Police and the Crown Prosecution Service released CCTV footage which showed Wilson returning home after the fatal shot was fired. The footage showed Wilson running towards his home address on Highfield Road in Huyton at around 9.45pm - around three hours and 20 minutes after the shooting.

The footage, which was played to the jury during the six-and-a-half week trial at Liverpool Crown Court, showed Wilson wearing shorts, a t-shirt and sliders and carrying a blue plastic bag. Earlier that same day Wilson was seen wearing dark coloured trousers, a grey long-sleeved top and black trainers with a white sole while he purchased masks and gloves from a nearby convenience store.

After he returned home Wilson, who had left his phone behind when he went to carry out the shooting, sent a message to his dad Tommy Wilson which said "ye ok lad just woke up". The prosecution during the trial told the jury the message was "plainly an attempt to provide himself with an alibi".
