Killer couple pictured riding horses in the Caribbean Sea after they fled to the sun in wake of murder

Grinning astride horses in the Caribbean Sea, it's an image worthy of many an Instagram page. But the smiling riders are no normal couple - they're 'vigilante' killers on the run.

Michael Hillier and Rachel Fulstow fled to the sun in the wake of an unthinkable act of violence. Having plotted the killing of Liam Smith for months, the murder was callously carried out, before the pair escaped to Jamaica for a two-week holiday.

Dad-of-two Mr Smith was shot in the face at point-blank range and doused in sulphuric acid outside his home in Shevington, Wigan, on November 24 2022.

On Wednesday (August 23), Hillier, 39, and Fulstow, 37, were both found guilty of his murder. Fulstow was also found guilty of perverting the course of justice. They've been handed life sentences with minimum terms topping 30 years.

Following the case, GMP has released a series of images of the former couple - including an image of them on holiday following the horrific crime.

Preparation for Mr Smith's murder, detectives say, started in May 2022. Fulsow searched his bane on the internet and Hillier purchased guns online, practicing his aim by shooting in his cellar.

Hillier said he was acting in revenge after Fulstow alleged she'd been raped by Mr Smith years earlier during a Tinder date. She did not go to the police, but the pair instead decided to seek 'vigilante justice'.

They plotted his death over a 10-month period before drug dealer Hillier made the trip to Kilburn Drive in Shevington to kill 38-year-old Mr Smith. After the killing, he and Fulstow enacted an elaborate plan to avoid justice including making up false alibis and, just days later,
