Kieran Tierney urged to hand in Arsenal transfer request as former Emirates star tells Newcastle target to 'move on'

Arsenal hero and former France full-back Bacary Sagna has urged Kieran Tierney to hand in a transfer request if his Arsenal demands aren't met.

It's been a season full of emotions for the former Celtic darling. It looks more and more likely by the week that the Isle of Man-born star will be a Premier League champion with Arsenal continuing to put teams up and down the country to the sword in their title challenge; though Oleksandr Zinchenko's performances at left-back have seen Tierney's game time decrease massively.

The Scot has been linked with a move to Newcastle heavily over the past few weeks, and whilst there is a feeling among fans and pundits that Arsenal should look to keep Tierney with him being seen as crucial backup to the Ukrainian, Gunners hero Sagna has urged him to hand in a transfer request if he can't force his way into Mikel Arteta's plans.

Despite Champions League football being pretty much guaranteed next season, Newcastle are a club on the up thanks to their newfound riches - and much like Sagna when he decided to leave Arsenal for Manchester City, he has urged Tierney to swap the Emirates for a northern powerhouse with first-team football on the line.

Sagna said to The Games Room: “He obviously hasn’t been doing amazing and this season the club have brought in Oleksandr Zinchenko, who’s become a key player in the team and in that left-back position.

"I think Zinchenko is here to stay for a long time, so Kieran is going to have to have a discussion with the club. Arsenal are obviously aware of his quality but if Kieran wants to play more, then I’m not sure he’s going to get in ahead of Zinchenko.
