Kieran Tierney to lead Arsenal overhaul as Mikel Arteta targets 5 summer signings

Mikel Arteta is set for an overhaul of his squad this summer as he prepares his Arsenal team for a gruelling campaign in the league and the Champions League.

The return of Champions League football to the Emirates will mean more money to spend in the transfer market this summer for Arteta. And the former Rangers midfielder is planning on a signing spree with some heading in the other direction.

Former captain Granit Xhaka is believed to be admired by Arteta, however he is wanted by Bayer Leverkusen in Germany and is expected to leave. Another player that could be heading for the exit door is former Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney. The Scot is wanted by a number of clubs with Newcastle United believed to be heavily interested in signing him this summer.

Tierney has fallen out of favour in North London after Oleksandr Zinchenko signed from Man City at the start of this season. Emile Smith Rowe could also be a departure which would divide opinion among fans as he is a hugely popular homegrown talent.

While Folarin Balogun has been linked with AC Milan in a £30million move following a successful loan spell at Stade de Reims. West Ham United captain Declan Rice is believed to be at the top of the transfer list for Arteta, while Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans and former Aberdeen loanee James Maddison could be available if the Foxes get relegated to the Championship.

The Mirror has reported that Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi is on Arsenal's list as William Saliba’s injury exposed
