Kieran Tierney 'devastated' by Rangers derby fightback as Celtic hero names stat giving him title hope

Former Celtic star Kieran Tierney admits he was "devastated" to see Rangers rescue a draw on derby day - but reckons the Hoops will claim title glory.

Rabbi Matondo rescued the Light Blues as Brendan Rodgers' left Ibrox with just a point - and just a point separating the two Glasgow giants at the top of the Scottish Premiership with the Light Blues holding a game in hand against Dundee. There is just one clash left between the rivals this season – and it could prove to be crucial in the title race as Philippe Clement takes his side to Celtic Park.

And Celtic diehard Tierney admits he was left gutted that Adam Idah's late strike was cancelled out by the Welsh winger - but remained undeterred in backing his former side to claim the trophy at the end of the campaign. Speaking first about the 3-3 derby thriller, the Scotland and Real Sociedad defender told talkSPORT: "It's one of the best games I've watched in a long time.

"I was absolutely devastated that we couldn't hold on to the victory. To be honest to go there with no fans and come away with a point, and have the title in your hands still is all you can ask from a game like that."

Pressed on who will win the title by Jim White, he pointed to Celtic's record in recent derby clashes: "Well, I really hope it's Celtic. I think Celtic have got a track record in turning up in the big, big games. I don't know how many of the last derbies Celtic have won but I'm sure the percentage is in their favour.

"I think as long as they keep doing what they are doing because in the last few weeks they have been brilliant, and they have had a couple of big injuries as well. With a couple coming back and the form we are in just now I think we are looking good, hopefully."
