Kemar Roofe facing nervous Rangers injury wait as Michael Beale prays latest issue is 'nothing serious'

Rangers won't know the extent of Kemar Roofe's latest injury until the results of a scan come back.

The striker suffered a fresh setback after he had to be taken off during Wednesday night's 4-0 Viaplay Cup quarter-final win over Livingston at Ibrox. Roofe was returned to the starting XI after being left on the bench for the weekend win over Motherwell. However, a suspected groin injury could see him sidelined again. Manager Michael Beale admitted after the victory over the Lions that there was a "slight issue."

But speaking on Friday ahead of the Premiership clash with Aberdeen, Beale revealed that Roofe had been sent for further assessment and a diagnosis would be made after docs had taken a more in-depth look at the problem. The Rangers boss said: "Roofe is away for a scan, so no news on that one for now. It is disappointing for Kemar as has been doing so well so we hope is not too serious."

There were also slight updates on other injured stars Nico Raskin and Kieran Dowell. Raskin picked up an injury while away with the belgian Under 21 squad and Gers hope he will back after the next international break. Dowell however, could be back in contention sooner.

Beale added: "Raskin is back with the rehab team. Dowell is back out in very light training."
