Kelle Roos tells Hibs foe he tried to 'do him in' for penalty but Aberdeen FC star ready for beautiful final

Kelle Roos has warned Aberdeen haven’t come this far just to get to a final and they will be looking to go all the way to lift the Viaplay Cup next month.

The Dons now have “a beautiful final” and a Hampden return to look forward to next month against Rangers. It was just reward for Barry Robson’s side as they showed their resilience and fight to get past Hibs in the semi-final with 10 men, thanks to Bojan Miovski’s winner. Roos knows his side are a game away from creating history and landed Aberdeen’s first trophy in nine years - since they last won the League Cup.

If they can deliver then the keeper knows it will create a unique bond within this Aberdeen squad. Roos determinedly claimed: “We have a beautiful final to look forward to but we didn’t come this far just to get to a final. We need to focus on the league and focus on European football and that will carry us towards that day.

“It’s also important we stay focused on our daily tasks. We’ll recover and then go back to work on Monday to prepare for Thursday. It is important we keep grounded. This was a semi-final and it’s a brilliant reward for everyone, the players and the fans.

“I can’t stress that enough, it’s a great occasion for the fans as well. It’s a great chance to get some silverware, and if you can do that I have learned in my career your team turns into family. That’s what we’ll be looking to do.”

Aberdeen weren’t at their best at Hampden. Hibs had the better chances but never took them and Miovski made them pay with his 10th goal of the campaign. Roos admitted: “You can see when he is one on one with the goalkeeper he really knows the space he has, he really slows down, he just finds the gap. It is great to have such a good finisher in the team.
