Barry Robson ices Rangers claim by Kris Boyd as Aberdeen FC boss reckons Ibrox triumph guarantees NOTHING

Fired-up Barry Robson has defended himself and his Aberdeen team ahead of the Rangers clash by insisting: “You know me, I want to win every game.”

The Dons boss has come out fighting after questions have been raised about his side and their record against the Light Blues compared to Celtic. Aberdeen lost 6-0 to the Hoops before the international break and haven’t beaten them since 2018 but have a more impressive record against the Ibrox side, having beaten them twice out of their last three meetings.

Pundit Kris Boyd weighed into the argument after he watched Aberdeen lose 6-0 at Celtic Park last time out then insisted Robson would have no problem getting them up for the next game because it was Rangers. Robson refused to be drawn into a war of words with his former Middlesbrough teammates but stated that his team is always sent out to try and win every game.

The Aberdeen manager stated: “If you know me you know I want to win every game. That what my teams are all about. That’s it. We try and win every game we can.”

Aberdeen won at Pittodrie last season, on the way to clinching third place. They then followed that up with a 3-1 win at Ibrox earlier this season, in Michael Beale’s last stand. Robson knows those games are in the past and will have very little bearing on Sunday but wants the Red Army to help and be the 12th man.

He stated: “It guarantees you nothing. You need to perform, bring your A Game and everybody has to be at their best. They need to play above 90 per cent and if they do that then we give ourselves an opportunity. The fans are huge for us and help us when they are at home. They can be a huge help to us.”
