Kelle Roos insists glorious Aberdeen FC night in Frankfurt could kickstart Dons season as Conference League shock eyed

Kelle Roos firmly believes that if their newly-assembled squad can click into gear then Aberdeen can be Europa Conference League shock troops.

The Dons are still finding their feet after Barry Robson brought in 13 players in the last window, as he has built up a group to cope with the enduring demands of domestic and European football until Christmas. Aberdeen make their return to the group stages for the first-time in 16 years when they take on Bundesliga giants Eintracht Frankfurt in the Deutsche Bank Park in tonight’s opener.

The Reds are still to hit the ground in the Scottish Premiership but Roos has seen the new signings first-hand and believes they have quality and they can make their mark in Group G against Frankfurt, PAOK and HJK. The keeper stated: “How much could a performance here kickstart our season? It depends on the result and performance. But it could obviously give us a great lift, especially with so many new boys in the dressing-room getting used to things. It would be massive for the team if we can get something.

“I can’t put my finger on why it hasn’t clucked so far, that’s the honest answer. If I could put my finger on it I would have done it and tried to solve it.

“The only thing is, we know that when you have new players you need to give them time. They are good players, we see them every day, we work with them every day so we know we have a lot of good players in our dressing-room.
