Four young RB Leipzig signings who could cause Man City Champions League problems

It has been seven months since Manchester City demolished RB Leipzig in the round of 16 en route to lifting the Champions League.

The two sides meet again in the group stage on Wednesday evening, with the home side having rejuvenated their squad with a sprinkling of impressive young talent over the summer. Having lost star defender Josko Gvardiol to City as well as Dominik Szoboszlai to Liverpool and Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea, arrivals were needed and the Bundesliga outfit has invested in a new crop of young talent.

It means Pep Guardiola's side will be coming up against some unfamiliar faces at the Red Bull Arena. With that in mind, the Manchester Evening News has taken a look at who out of those new signings could present City with the biggest test during their Champions League encounter.

A product of Barcelona's La Masia academy, European football has been well aware of the name Xavi Simons since he was a child. Coined as a generational talent, the youngster has the potential to be one of the best in the world. The Dutch-born attacking midfielder is currently on loan in Germany from French giants PSG, whom he joined as a 16-year-old.

It was last season, however, in his home country where Simons proved his maturity in the men's game. He blossomed under former Manchester United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy's PSV, ending the season as the joint-top scorer in the Eredivisie with 19 goals alongside nine assists.
