Kasper Schmeichel hailed as ideal successor to Joe Hart between the posts at Celtic

Liam Scales has hailed the arrival of Kasper Schmeichel as the perfect man to pick up the Celtic gloves from Joe Hart.

The Denmark star checked in on Thursday on a one-year deal and is set to hook up with the Hoops on their American tour.
Scales is convinced Celts boss Brendan Rodgers has made a shrewd move landing such an experienced keeper after fans favourite Hart called it quits at the end of the season. Schmeichel has spent 20 years at the top level and picked up 105 caps for his country in a glittering career.

The Republic of Ireland ace said: “It’s brilliant. If you were looking for a replacement for Joe in terms of experience then he’s absolutely perfect. He’s another Premier League winner (with Leicester City in 2016) and has been successful though the years and played numerous times for his country. When you look at experience it’s almost like for like. It’s great to have some one who has been there and done that.

“It’s about as similar as you can go. We know there are big boots – or big gloves to fill – with Joe going. He was a huge presence in the dressing room. You need those kinds of leaders in the dressing room. It’s still quite a young squad. But I’m sure Kasper will bring that experience and leadership as well.

“The great thing about this dressing room is that everyone is pulling in the same direction and you don’t really need to drag anyone along. Everyone is already on board. There are no bad eggs as such, and that massively helps us. I’m sure Kasper will add to that.”
