Man City 'face' Kalvin Phillips decision as fresh Rodri transfer warning emerges

Real Madrid have reportedly identified Manchester City star Rodri as a target to bolster their midfield in the near future.

That's according to Caught Offside (via TEAMtalk), who claims the Spanish giants are big admirers of Rodri and believe he is the perfect long-term replacement following German icon Toni Kroos' exit, as he hung up his boots. However, it's thought that he is on their list of potential candidates for the future, and therefore, Madrid would wait until next summer to tempt City into a deal.

If Pep Guardiola leaves at the end of the season, that could open the door for Rodri to depart the Etihad after six years. The Spanish boss is a huge fan of Rodri, who was snubbed for player of the season last term. He said: "He's been one of the best... what is important is he knows what we think, his importance, and the magnificent, extraordinary player that he is."

Elsewhere, Ipswich Town are the latest team to join the race for out-of-favour midfielder Kalvin Phillips, according to Sky Sports. However, the new Premier League boys face competition from Fulham and Everton, with the latter said to have been the most interested in his services.

Phillips, who spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United, is not part of Pep Guardiola's' plans for this season. MEN Sports understands City would be willing to accept another loan move following his spell with the Hammers earlier this year.
