Kaizer chiefs coach on Soweto Derby win: We made Pirates look ordinary

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane says his side outclassed rivals Orlando Pirates in their 1-0 Soweto derby win on Saturday. 

Yusuf Maart scored the only goal of the game at the FNB Stadium with an exquisite finish from behind the half-way line to hand Amakhosi all three points.

The result saw Zwane's side move into third place with 21 points and left Pirates in fifth place on 19 points, both from 13 matches played. 

Speaking after the game, a delighted Zwane said that he felt his side was dominant for large chunks of the tie. 

"We knew that going into half-time, we had them. They had no space to breathe, and you could see that they were now doubting themselves. 

"So we had to wait for them to make any change and react from there because we needed to see what they wanted to do and counter that. 

"But at the same time, also make a change that will make them panic. We had them in the first half, we were just unfortunate not to score. We were supposed to go to the break leading 2-1 or 2-0." 

Zwane added: "When you look at the way the boys played and Pirates, they really wanted to win the game, and they are doing very well.  

"But if you can suffocate a team of Pirates' calibre with so much quality on the field and make them look ordinary on the day, it tells you the plan was well executed."
