Jurrien Timber sends message to Ajax fans amid Manchester United transfer links

Manchester United-linked defender Jurrien Timber has thanked Ajax's fans for their support this season following the conclusion of the 2021/22 campaign.

Timber, who is being strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford as a result of Erik ten Hag's appointment as manager, played a key role in helping the Dutch giants scoop their 36th Eredivisie league title. He racked up 43 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and claiming two assists.

Capable of playing at both right-back and centre-back, the Dutchman, who turns 21 next month, enjoyed a stellar campaign for the Amsterdam heavyweights, playing a key role in their success. He also scooped their Talent of the Year award, highlighting how important he was in their final triumph under Ten Hag.

Timber, as a result of his performances this season and Ten Hag's move to Old Trafford, is now being closely linked with United himself, with the supporters adamant that he could thrive in England under a manager he knows inside out. The youngster is highly-rated by the newly installed United boss and the fans want to see him follow Ten Hag to M16.

Although Timber is remaining tight-lipped on his future, he has shared a video reflecting on this season, which carried a degree of emotion to it, even though it was not a farewell message.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Timber said: "My first Champions League campaign. How about that for a group stage.
