Jurrien Timber can fix Manchester United's problem identified by Ralf Rangnick

Jurrien Timber is one of the most promising young defenders in Europe and he has developed hugely under the management of Erik ten Hag. Numerous clubs are looking to sign him, but could Timber rekindle his relationship with his former boss at Manchester United this summer?

Bayern Munich are thought to be United's biggest rivals for his signature but fans hope the Ten Hag factor could be enough to secure his signing. United have often looked vulnerable this season due to individual errors and lack of communication - Timber could help address the problem.

Timber’s strengths

The 20-year-old Dutch international made his debut for Ajax at 18 and has been a key figure in their defence, especially during the current season where he has made 30 appearances. Timber’s main positions on the pitch are right-back and centre-back and this versatility in his game has seen him become a crucial component of Ten Hag’s well-oiled Ajax machine.

Another attribute that Timber possesses is his ability to remain calm and composed under pressure. He is an excellent carrier of the ball and isn’t afraid of stepping into midfield which could be vital for United if they are looking to dominate possession in the centre of the pitch next season.

United have lacked a cutting edge in this area of the pitch over recent years due to the limited nature of Fred and McTominay. Timber is also keen on playing a forward pass into the midfield and attackers as quickly as possible, something which the Red Devils currently struggle with.
