'Jurgen knows' - Pep Guardiola makes telling Liverpool and Arsenal point in passionate Man City defence

Pep Guardiola thinks Manchester City are judged differently to Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea when it comes to dips in form, as he leapt to the defence of his side amid a four game winless run.

City travel to Luton on Sunday looking to stop a run of three draws and a defeat in four Premier League games, which has seen them slip to fourth in the table. Arsenal have moved six points above the Blues, with Liverpool two points adrift of the Gunners in second and Aston Villa third.

After City lost to Villa this week, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said the 'biggest mistake in football' would be to write off City in the title race. In response Guardiola said the title 'is not lost' but that City 'have to start to be worried' about Arsenal's lead.

And when Klopp's comments were put to Guardiola directly, the City manager took the opportunity to suggest his side are treated differently given the high standards the Blues have set.

"Jurgen knows what happened in a short period can happen [to anyone]. He knows that," Guardiola said. "City can have a bad period, also they [Liverpool] could have a bad period next season. The mentality of Liverpool is there. He knows it can happen. Human beings change, private life changes. I never believe in the big compliments or the bad situations.

"Football life, the most difficult thing is to win and win and win and do it. We have done it, for many years we are the main candidates to do it. When we were out in the semi-final of the Champions League, it was a big disaster. This was our levels.
