Liverpool came agonisingly close to domestic glory last term, so Jurgen Klopp's side headed into the summer knowing that they only needed some minor fine-tuning to challenge again this year.

However, the landscape has changed dramatically at the summit of the Premier League over the course of the off-season; Manchester City have acquired one of Europe's deadliest strikers in Erling Haaland, while the rest of the top-flight's big guns have also been busy in the transfer market.

Klopp has not rested on his laurels and has refreshed his squad ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, and the Reds have a new-look attack following Sadio Mane's departure. But has the German boxed off everything he set out to achieve at the beginning of the summer? Here, Mirror Football takes a look...

The Reds have been linked with a whole host of names during the months leading up to the end of the season, and some of that interest has come to fruition. Liverpool had been credited with an interest in the likes of Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez for months, and the former had even come close to a deadline day switch to Anfield back in January.

Aurelien Tchouameni was another name who was floated about regularly, while talk of a move for Jude Bellingham has also failed to materialise.
