Junior Hoilett drops Aberdeen FC transfer hint as Canadian looks beyond Neil Warnock's tenure

New Aberdeen signing Junior Hoilett hasn't ruled out the prospect of extending his stay at Pittodrie beyond the end of the season.

The 33-year-old penned a short term deal at Pittodrie until the summer last week, teaming up with boss Neil Warnock for a third time, having previously played under him at both Queen's Park Rangers and Cardiff. The winger had been unattached since leaving MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps at the turn of the year, but spent time training with former club Reading to keep fit over the winter.

Former English Premier League winger Hoilett has won 62 caps for Canada and made his Dons debut off the bench in last weekend's 2-2 home draw with Hibs. Asked about whether he would be interested in remaining in the Granite City on a long-term basis, he said: “Yeah of course. It’s a massive club with passionate fans and great facilities. The dressing room are a good bunch of guys and I have enjoyed working with them.

“My experience can help the younger players on and off the field get better", added the Canada star. “I also want to create more chances and goals for the team to help get the results that we need.

“Near the top of the table is where this club deserves to be so every game is important for us to perform to a high level and get the points to push us up the table. Every game will have a play-off feel and I am excited to help the team try and achieve that goal.”
