Journalist says Celtic will be "delighted" by big deal involving "real talent"

Celtic have confirmed the signing of Lanus and Argentina U23 left-back Alexandro Bernabei and they should be delighted with this deal, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 21-year-old has signed a five-year deal at Celtic Park.

Celtic have now officially announced the signing of Bernabei, who arrives in Scotland for a reported £3.75m, after a successful spell in the Lanus academy and later the first-team.

The Argentine full-back has made 87 first-team appearances since 2019 during his time at Lanus, scoring five goals and providing ten assists, according to Transfermarkt.

And speaking to Celtic TV he said: “I’m very happy to be here and I feel grateful to the club for giving me this opportunity.

“I feel proud to be playing in Europe because it was one of my dreams and I’m excited to train with and play with my new team-mates.

“The stadium is just incredible. The people, the club, team-mates, and the coaching staff are all incredible.

“I’m very excited and happy and I can’t wait to be playing in the Champions League. I’ve heard that the people are crazy, so I can’t wait to sense that feeling and emotion in Celtic Park.”

And O’Rourke believes Celtic fans should be excited about Bernabei’s arrival.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Bernabei does look like he’s got real talent and I’m sure Celtic are busy planning ahead for the Champions League.

“They’ll be delighted and we can see what he can bring to the team going forward.”

Bernabei is the fourth permanent addition to the Celtic squad this season, according to Transfermarkt, and you would imagine they don’t want their business to end there, as they look to retain their Scottish Premiership title next season.
