“I’m sure” – Journalist claims Rangers will “be looking” at signing 37-goal “diamond”

Rangers will ‘be looking’ into the possibility of signing Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson this summer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move away from Pittodrie in recent weeks following another impressive campaign in Scottish football and could make the move to Glasgow.

Ferguson’s uncle Barry made over 250 appearances for Rangers and knows exactly what it takes to be successful at the Old Firm clubs.

And the former Alloa Athletic manager has claimed his nephew is ready to take the ‘next step’ in his promising career and move away from Aberdeen.

“I do believe he is at the stage in his career where he needs to go and make that next step, whether that is at a Rangers, a Celtic, down south or in Italy,” Ferguson said on The Go Radio Football Show.

The Scottish Sun recently revealed that Serie A new boys Lecce are eager to snap up the Scotland international in a £2 million deal, but they are not the only interested party.

Sky Sports reported last month that Millwall have had a £1.5m offer rejected by the Dons after it fell well below their valuation, meaning the race for Ferguson’s signature remains wide open.

O’Rourke doesn’t believe any sentimental feeling will come into the minds of Rangers’ hierarchy when assessing Ferguson and reckons he is someone who could be on their radar.

“He’s been a good player for Aberdeen, has been linked with quite a few moves abroad, so I’m sure Rangers would be looking at Ferguson
