Journalist issues update on Tottenham target Christian Eriksen who ‘still loves club’

Christian Eriksen would be open to a return to Tottenham Hotspurs this summer, according to Alasdair Gold.

Gold, who works as a correspondent for Spurs, believes the Dane would be willing to re-sign for the club at the end of the season. Following his arrival at Brentford, Eriksen has showcased that he is still full of talent after collapsing on the pitch during Euro 2020. Now, a number of clubs are said to be interested in landing the star at the end of the campaign.

Both Aston Villa and Newcastle have been linked with a potential move for the 30-year-old. However, Spurs appear to be leading the race for his signature, should he decide not to extend his stay at Brentford.

And journalist Gold has added to these beliefs, stating that Eriksen still very much loves his former club

Speaking in a  football.london Q&A, he said: “As a free agent he’ll have plenty of interest this summer. I’m told that while he didn’t depart Spurs on the best of terms with the Tottenham hierarchy, he still loves the club and his preference is believed to be to remain in London.

“It’s whether the Dane feels that he should show some loyalty to Brentford for bringing him back into the game or whether the pull of playing for Conte again and Tottenham, where he would be a good fit back in the Italian’s 3-5-2, is more enticing.”

Meanwhile, former Spurs man Alan Hutton believes Antonio Conte should prioritise signing a creative midfielder this summer.

Spurs appear ready for an overhaul of summer signings, with Conte already stating he wants two new midfielders brought in.

And Hutton believes that someone with the attributes of Eriksen would be the perfect signing for them.
