Jota has Celtic fans beaming with pride as throwback Cristiano Ronaldo photo shows how winger followed his dream

Portuguese winger Jota can do little wrong in the eyes of Celtic fans since his summer loan move, and the Parkhead fanbase have fallen even further in love after a throwback photo that showed how he followed his dream.

The 22-year-old came through the youth system at Benfica and was a star for his nation at youth level.

He's on loan from the Lisbon giants but Celtic have an option to buy that fans are hoping the club will take up to make his stay in Scotland permanent.

And a stunning example of how far Jota has risen in the game has emerged in the form of a photo with none other than Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

The veteran striker is considered one of the greatest ever to play the game, and has his 807 goals across his illustrious career.

It's a fair bet that Jota grew up idolising Ronaldo, and he was given the chance to be a mascot for a Portugal game in 2007.

A snap of the Celtic man standing in front of CR7 was shared on Twitter and sparked an outpouring of love from the Parkhead faithful.

Jota is yet to make his debut for the senior Portuguese national team but was top-scorer for the Under-19 team as they won the European Championship in 2018.

He has five goals in 18 games for the Under-21 side and will hope his form at Parkhead earns a call for the top team, though he faces competition from the likes of Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix and Rafael Leao.
