Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall rematch is ON as Tartan Tornado warns rival he's 'getting battered'

The long awaited rematch between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall has finally been confirmed.

The bout comes two years after the Tartan Tornado won a controversial clash two years ago to retain his WBA (Super), WBC, IBF and WBO light welterweight titles. Taylor was given the split decision on points but many within and outwith boxing felt Chorley native Catterall had won the fight and the Englishman felt he had been cheated out of a victory against the Prestonpans fighter at the Hydro.

Now he's out for revenge, and will get his chance on April 27 this year at the First Direct Arena in Leeds. “I’ve wanted this fight since the moment the scorecards got read out in Glasgow,” said Catterall. “A few people say, ‘move on Jack’, and that’s easy to say to when you’re not in my position. I get asked every day of my life multiple times a day, ‘when are you fighting Taylor again?’.

"This isn’t about belts, this is personal to me and I can’t wait to get my hands on him. I don’t like him, I don’t respect him and on April 27 I’m going to end him.”

Edinburgh hero Taylor suffered defeat in his next fight against Teofimo Lopez, and has been accused of ducking the rematch with catterall. But he's adamant Catterall is the last fighter he'd run from, and has accused him of living off Taylor's name.

He said: “He has spent the last two years running from promoter to promoter while living off my name. Jack should be careful what he wishes for because he’s getting battered on April 27. I am going to enjoy every second of this. See you soon, Jack.”
