Josh Taylor in "simple Jack" jibe as Jack Catterall feud shows no signs of subsiding in social media war of words

The fight may still be over two months away but the animosity between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall continues to heat up.

Two years on from their first bout - in which Taylor claimed a controversial points victory - the domestic rivals will meet in the ring once again at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on Saturday, April 27. Tensions are already running high between the two camps, with Taylor and Catterall quickly having to be separated following an altercation at Monday's launch press conference in Taylor's home city of Edinburgh.

And the beef is showing no signs of subsiding, with both boxers taking to social media this afternoon to throw more shade at each other. Taylor dealt the first blow, quote tweeting a picture of the two fighters sitting around a table for an upcoming "Face-Off" special, by saying: "Jack, I see your 5 fingers & I’ll raise you 5".

Just over 30 minutes later, Catterall hit back, replying: "You got the right hand slap on Tuesday you’ll get the left hand slap again soon. I could smell the super tennents on your breathe as well poor Ade must have been tipsy after this face off."

The war of words then continued with Taylor repeating his claims about his rival's lack of intelligence, posting a photoshopped image of Ben Stiller's character "Simple Jack" from the film Tropic Thunder along with the message: "Forget the tough guy talk dumbo. Guess you can’t see it looks like we’re playing poker.! Should kept the crayons!!! Can’t argue with stupid! #simpleJack"
