Graeme Souness declares one Rangers myth dispelled as 'snooty' English flops catch stray in Jack Butland love in

Bullish Graeme Souness reckons the success of Jack Butland at Rangers has shown "snooty" English stars they SHOULD make the move to north.

Butland has been a stand-out performer since making his move to Ibrox and has helped lead the Light Blues to top spot in the Scottish Premiership as well as the last 16 of the Europa League. That form has caught the eye of England boss Gareth Southgate with Euro 2024 just around the corner - with reports suggesting that the 30-year-old will be recalled to the international set-up for the double header against Brazil and Belgium later this month.

The goalkeeper has kickstarted his career with his move to Rangers having been on the fringes at Crystal Palace before seeing out his Selhurst Park contract on loan an Manchester United - but failed to make a single first-team appearance for the Red Devils before making a free switch to the Glasgow giants.

And writing for The Daily Mail, Souness reckons more struggling English stars could follow the example of Butland and kickstart their careers at Ibrox. He said: "I hope Jack Butland's performances for Rangers have not escaped Gareth Southgate's notice because I believe he warrants consideration by England.

"His quality demonstrates to any English players who might be snooty about joining Rangers just what an excellent environment it is. Jack is a lovely kicker of the ball, who has great positioning."
