Josh Taylor tells Jack Catterall 'you're going out on a stretcher' if rival matches him punch for punch

Josh Taylor doesn't believe Jack Catterall has what it takes to trade punches blow-for-blow and insists the Englishman will be "going out on a stretcher" if he tries to stick it on the former undisputed world champion.

Nearly two years on from their first bout at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, bitter rivals Taylor and Catterall have finally agreed to do it all over again at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on April 27. Despite getting dropped with a flash knockdown in the eighth round, Prestonpans-born Taylor (19-1, 13 KOs) saw his hand raised by claiming a controversial split decision victory on points against Catterall back in February 2022, a call that many in the boxing world should have gone the other way.

At a tense launch press conference in Edinburgh earlier today, Catterall (28-1-0, 13 KOs) vowed to take the fight straight to Taylor, promising to win the fight inside the distance.

But 33-year-old Taylor, who became the first British boxer to claim undisputed status when he captured all four belts in the super-lightweight division in May 2021, has played down Catterall's claims and has vowed to do some serious damage to his opponent should he hold his ground in the centre of the ring.

Speaking to Youtube outlet Boxing Social, he said: "The way he is talking he is going out to come and fight, which is great because that is not his style. If he does come out like that he'll be going out on a stretcher. I don't think he can fight like that, but let him try."
