Josh Doig to Rangers given a transfer jolt as Torino boss delivers spiky slapdown over Verona 'agreement' swirls
Torino boss Ivan Juric has abruptly shut down speculation that Josh Doig is set to leave Hellas Verona for the Serie A side.
And that could clear a path for the former Hibs man to join Rangers in the winter window. Philippe Clement has been linked with a move for the Scotland youth cap who has impressed in Italy since making the move from the Scottish Premiership. With Borna Barisic out of contract this summer and rumours intensifying that Ridvan Yilmaz may be on the way out, Clement could be in need of a new first choice left back as he looks to dethrone Celtic this term.
While the 21-year-old has been touted with a move to Ibrox, reports in Italy had stated that Torino had been set to complete a cut-price to bring Doig in this month. Cash-strapped Verona are being forced to sell key assets this month, however, Juric insists there is no deal in place.
Following the 3-0 win over Napoli, the boss was quizzed on if an agreement was already rubber-stamped. But the exacerbated boss declared that there would be no new arrivals until a player had been sold.
He responded: "I don't know what to answer. We haven't talked. Right now I have these players. Nothing happens here if no one leaves."
