Jose Cifuentes Rangers transfer set to be rubber stamped as Ibrox club thrash out terms with Ecuadorian

Rangers are close to agreeing personal terms with Jose Cifuentes.

Record Sport understands the Ibrox side hope to seal a deal with the Ecuador star over the coming days. The Light Blues will then move to thrash out a transfer deal with LA FC so he can make the switch to Scotland this summer. Cifuentes is out of contract with the Major League Soccer side at the end of the year. Los Angeles have made it clear they would rather sell now than lose their prize asset for nothing.

Cifuentes’ agent, Stefan Jarrin, was in Glasgow earlier this month for talks and to take in the recent derby with Celtic. Jarrin is now in the final stages of closing a deal for the 24-year-old. Cifuentes has been on Rangers’ radar for more than a year, with the Light Blues have been tracking him since Gio van Bronckhorst was the manager.

Former sporting director Ross Wilson was tipped off about Cifuentes and Beale has maintained that interest since replacing van Bronckhorst. A major rebuild is expected at the Govan club this summer and Cifuentes is set to be the first building block laid down in the close season.
