Jordan Storey makes honest admission about his current situation at Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday defender Jordan Storey has admitted that he currently isn’t focusing on what the future holds for him at the club as he is instead prioritising his side’s push for promotion.

Storey joined the Owls on a temporary basis from Preston North End in the January transfer window and is set to return to Deepdale when his loan spell reaches a conclusion at the end of May.

Since making this particular switch, the defender has featured regularly for his side in the third-tier.

Having made 20 appearances for Wednesday at this level, Storey is expected to start in tonight’s showdown with Sunderland at Hillsborough.

The Owls suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Black Cats in the first leg of their play-off semi-final as Ross Stewart netted the winning goal for Alex Neil’s side.

Set to play in front of their own supporters this evening, Wednesday will be determined to book their place at Wembley Stadium by beating Sunderland.

Ahead of this clash, Storey has made an honest admission about his current situation at the club.

Speaking to The Star, Storey said: “It’s all eyes on this [tonight’s meeting with Sunderland.]

“I couldn’t care less about any of that [plans for the future] at the moment, I’ve got one job here – and that’s to win Monday night, and then get this team back to the Championship.”

The Verdict

It is hardly a surprise that Storey is not currently looking at what the future holds for him as all of Wednesday’s players will be focusing on delivering the goods in tonight’s fixture.

During his time at Hillsborough, the defender has produced a host of assured performances for the club in the third-tier.
