Dominic Solanke makes honest admission amid AFC Bournemouth’s Premier League promotion

AFC Bournemouth forward Dominic Solanke has admitted he did not achieve what he wanted to the last time the Cherries were in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old has been prolific in the Championship over the last two seasons, scoring 44 league goals in 86 appearances, but in the top flight, Solanke has previously struggled to find goalscoring form.

In 42 Premier League appearances for the Cherries, Solanke previously scored just three goals.

Ahead of Bournemouth’s return to the top flight though, the striker says he is a different player now.

“For sure, I didn’t do what I wanted to do last time I was there in the Premier League.” admitted Solanke, via the Daily Echo.

“But, I’m a different player now, mentally and physically. I’m looking forward to it.

“I’m looking forward to playing in the Prem next season.”

Solanke’s 29 goals and seven assists helped fire Bournemouth to 2nd place in the Championship standings and automatic promotion back to the top-flight this campaign.

The striker believes that being in the best shape of his career and having a regular run of games is what has helped him find his goalscoring form.

“I’ve played in pretty much every game I’ve been able to over the past two seasons,” continued Solanke.

“That definitely helped me. Scoring goals and staying fit.

“Obviously, a run of games, especially when you’re a striker, getting goals really helps.

“My only goal was to get promotion. I built on last season and I feel like I’m in the best shape of my career, playing my best football.”

It is certainly going to be exciting to see how Dominic Solanke gets on for AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League next season.
