Jordan Rhodes sends message to Huddersfield Town’s supporters after scoring winner against Luton

Huddersfield Town forward Jordan Rhodes has thanked the club’s fans for the support that they have illustrated throughout the 2021/22 campaign.

Rhodes helped his side progress in the play-offs yesterday by scoring a crucial goal for the Terriers in the second-half of their clash with Luton Town at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Hatters created the first clear opportunity of the second leg as Harry Cornick’s effort was saved by Huddersfield goalkeeper Lee Nicholls.

Harry Toffolo went close to opening the scoring for Huddersfield as his effort was denied by Matt Ingram.

Just before the break, Rhodes was brought on as a replacement for Danny Ward after his team-mate sustained an injury.

After Nicholls produced another stop to prevent Cornick from scoring, Rhodes netted what turned out to be the decisive goal of the tie as he slotted home from Sorba Thomas’ free-kick.

As a result of their 2-1 victory on aggregate over Luton, Huddersfield are now only one game away from securing a return to the Premier League as they are set to make the trip to Wembley Stadium later this month.

Following his side’s triumph, Rhodes decided to thank the club’s fans for the support that they have given to the team this season.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Rhodes said: “Just thank you for your support all year.

“It’s been hopefully not as a ride as what it’s felt sometimes.

“We are going down to Wembley now with a fighting chance, 90 minutes to play in the Premier League so let’s go down there with every hope we can do it.

“It will be a tough game against a side we don’t know yet – so why can’t it be us.”
