Jon Rahm makes first LIV Golf signing as Legion XIII begins to take shape

Jon Rahm has reportedly made Kieran Vincent the first signing for his new LIV Golf team.

Masters champion Rahm made the switch from PGA to the Saudi-backed tour last month in a blockbuster deal said to be worth $566million to the world no.3. His defection is arguably the most prominent yet and it was followed by Rory McIlroy walking back his previous damning comments on the breakaway tour.

Part of the deal was Rahm would get to form his own team and he named it Legion XIII – a nod to his heritage that references the Spanish Legion and a military unit founded by King Alfonso in the 1920s. And now it seems that's beginning to take shape as Marca in his homeland report that up-and-coming Zimbabwean golfer Vincent has been named as the first of three signings on Rahm's team. Vincent currently plays on the Asian tour and won the Vietnamese International Series in April last year.

The 26-year-old, who represents his country of birth Zimbabwe on the course but played college golf in the US and previously played on the Canadian PGA Tour, is expected to be formally announced imminently. And according to Flushing It Golf, his arrival means that Jinichiro Kozuma – previously touted as an expected signing for Rahm – is likely to join the Ironheads instead.
