Chatham Town lose to Bognor Regis in Isthmian Premier and return to the Bauvill Stadium this Saturday at home to Cheshunt

Missed chances proved costly for Chatham Town last Saturday and manager Kevin Hake is keen they put it right this weekend.

A 2-1 defeat at Bognor Regis followed four straight wins for the Isthmian Premier promotion chasers and they return to the Bauvill Stadium on Saturday to face Cheshunt.

There was a big away following from the Chats against the West Sussex side and Hake was frustrated they couldn’t send them home with a win to celebrate. The message to his players this weekend is to make amends.

“Saturday proved if you don’t take your chances then you can get punished,” said Hake.

“Full credit must go to Bognor Regis for getting the result as they took their chances and that’s what it’s all about.

“We played some nice football and it’s comforting that we gave our travelling fans something to smile about, particularly in the second half, but Saturday was not one of our days and sometimes in football you just have to hold your hands up.”

Bognor struck twice inside the first 21 minutes and it took Chatham 85 minutes to find the net themselves, through Chris Dickson - his third goal in the last three games.

Hake said: “We created enough chances to win three games but the ball for whatever reason wouldn’t go in the back of the net.

“The lads were very disappointed at the end of the game but we will dust ourselves down and work on the training ground this week.
