Omar Berrada verdict delivered as Sir Jim Ratcliffe makes first major Manchester United decision

Manchester United supporters have given a big thumbs up to Sir Jim Ratcliffe's first major appointment after Omar Berrada was announced as the club's new CEO.

United caught many off guard on Saturday night when news broke of the addition of Berrada to the boardroom. The 46-year-old held several different positions at the Etihad Stadium, most notably his recent role as head of football operations since 2020.

During his time at City, Berrada was one of the key influential figures behind the scenes as Pep Guardiola shaped a squad fit to create history last season as they won the Treble. However, Ratcliffe has managed to flex his pulling power to bring the well-respected boardroom figure to the red half of Manchester.

Initial reaction on social media has been positive to this appointment and this evidence has been backed up in our recent survey. Approximately 650 of our MEN Sport United readers answered three questions regarding Berrada.

The first asked whether they were happy with the appointment with a whopping 90 per cent deciding they were. Next up we asked them whether they felt more or less confident in Ratcliffe's leadership, to which 91 per cent agreed they were more confident.

Finally, the Reds' supporters were asked if Berrada could bring the glory days back to Old Trafford. While still a positive response, only 80 per cent agreed he could.

These results suggest further strong appointments are needed to right this ship. MEN Sport understands a new director of football will be on the agenda for Ratcliffe as John Murtough is reallocated to another role.
