John Lundstram issues blunt Rangers contract response as reporter pushes midfielder on future talks

John Lundstram hinted he's had dialogue with Rangers over the possibility of extending his contract beyond the summer, but the midfielder was keen to give little away.

He's been one of Philippe Clement's main men in the engine room since the Belgian took over from Michael Beale and has played a big part in his unbeaten run to kick off the new Ibrox era. Lundstram has started every game of Clement's tenure and has played almost 90 minutes in all of them, proving a near-constant presence in the middle of the park while others have come in and out due to form or injury.

As things stand, Lundstram can leave the club for free in the summer and can speak to other interested parties from January. And while the Scouser didn't deny discussions had taken place, he wasn't about to go into detail on whether had sat down with club chiefs yet or which way the contract wind may be blowing at the club's press conference ahead of Saturday's clash with Dundee.

Reporter: Can I ask you about your contract situation John? You're up at the end of the season?

Lundstram: "I am, yeah."

Reporter: "What's the situation? Have you had talks with the club about extending it?

Lundstram: "Yeah, that's just between me and the club. It's personal between me and the club so I'd rather leave it at that."

Reporter: "But there are talks about the possibility of you staying?"

Lundstram: "That's just between me and the club, yeah."

While the chance to rotate in Lundstram's position may be limited, Clement has freshened things up elsewhere. However, the former Sheffield United man wouldn't want to be rested anyway as he gave a glowing summary of life under new management so far.

He added: "I love it. I just love playing games and I'd want to no other way.
