Joelinton drops major hint on the attacking partnership he'd love to see develop at Newcastle United

Newcastle United's man of the moment Joelinton admits he is excited about the prospect of starting more game's in attack for Eddie Howe.

And he has hinted at the prospect of developing more of a partnership with Allan Saint-Maximin who has also been handed more of a central role in recent games. Joelinton netted twice in the 3-0 win over Norwich City at Carrow Road and will now be looking to add to his tally of four goals in the season's run-in.

Despite spending much of the season in a central midfield role - where the Brazilian has excelled this term - Joelinton has no complaints over where he plays. That is a huge sign of just what a committed character the South American star is given he gave up the No 9 shirt to allow Callum Wilson the chance to wear it in the summer.

Joelinton said: "It's good to be in attack again but I have played many times as a striker. I always just want to help the team really.

"At Norwich, I started as a No 9 then I played with Allan Saint-Maximin, and it went well. To score twice and get the points is great."

With Wilson's return date still unclear, with Howe not wanting to take risks with the striker's calf trouble, Joelinton may yet get another crack at leading the line this term.

Howe was also thrilled with his contributions at Norwich and said: "I am really pleased for Joe, 100th appearance and you saw the scenes at the end there, brilliant moments for him especially knowing the journey he's had at the club. It was a great day for us."
