Bruno Guimaraes tipped to become Newcastle United legend after blistering start to life on Tyneside

Bruno Guimaraes is already something of a cult hero at Newcastle United despite having started only a handful games for the club. He has been a revelation since breaking into Eddie Howe’s side and is one of the players making supporters extremely excited about the perceived upcoming rebuild.

Even though he largely plays in a deeper midfield role, the Brazil international continues to contribute in the final third and his goals have shown the vast quality he possesses. Whether it’s a mid-air backheel finish, a diving header or a delicate chip, what he provides in the opposition penalty area is essential for the way Howe wants his team to play.

Because of the impact he has already been able to have in less than half a season, there is a real belief that he can go onto become a legend on Tyneside. Speaking on BT Sport ahead of United’s clash with Liverpool, Shay Given spoke of his admiration for the 24-year-old.

“He’s a special talent and a fantastic signing for the club,” said the iconic former Magpies goalkeeper. “There were some big clubs looking at him. He feels at home here. Some of his comments as well, he wants to be a legend at the football club.

“He wants to be here long term. He can play in so many different positions. He can pick out a fantastic pass. He can play as an eight. He strikes me as a long-term signing. You can build your team around him.”
