Joe Hart throws Celtic 'insecurity' out the window as he tells Brendan Rodgers he'll let his football do the talking

Joe Hart isn’t interested in seeking words of assurance from Brendan Rodgers over his No.1 status.

Instead, the Celtic keeper prefers actions to try to make up the manager’s mind for him. It was a deep conversation with Ange Postecoglou just under two years ago that convinced Hart his future lay in Glasgow. Having firmly established himself as a key member of the team during the Aussie’s successful spell, it’s a blank page again with Rodgers in the door.

The manager has changed but Hart’s desire and determination have not. At 36, the hunger remains. The fires burn brightly. The thought of asking Rodgers about his position within the ranks isn’t even contemplated. Hart said: “Those are conversations you never have. You’d get lost if you wanted to have those. That is almost an insecurity. I’m just going to offer my best. I have quite a lot behind me that puts me in decent stead but I don’t rely on that at all.

“Every single one of us is going to be pushing. The moment you rest is the moment you struggle. I kind of feel that every day. I don’t need to prove anything but I want to. I want to push every single day, I want to give my best and give someone a decision to make.

“I have learned over the many years that is all I can offer. However someone wants to take it and whatever decision they want to make is completely up to them. That’s why people get paid the big money to be in charge of football teams. But I know all I can do is give my best, show my best and see where that takes me.”
