Joburg Super Kings star Leus du Plooy relishing Centurion outing: 'I'll have to pinch myself'

Joburg Super Kings batter Leus du Plooy is looking forward to Wednesday's return game against the Pretoria Capitals because it'll be a homecoming event.

The Affies product compiled an excellent 75 off 40 balls which allowed the Super Kings to break their two-match losing streak with a six-run win against the Capitals at the Wanderers on Tuesday.

Du Plooy has taken quite the scenic route to where he is now, but proved his well-travelled value as his unbeaten knock allowed the hosts to post what became a defendable total.

Du Plooy, who turned 28 last week, said he'll pinch himself when he plays at SuperSport Park on Wednesday.

"I can't hide the fact that I'm a Pretoria boy. I was born and bred there, so it'll be great and surreal to play there," Du Plooy said. "I grew up watching my cricket there. It's a lovely batting track and they're fortunate to have loyal supporters.

"I guess I'll have to pinch myself at some point when I play there."

The return to the Highveld was a much-needed one for the Super Kings, who saw flames in Paarl and Cape Town where they battled on the two-paced surfaces at Boland Park and Newlands.

They made meagre totals of 81 and 105 as they battled to come to terms with the slower nature of the pitches and the spin threat that came with them.

Du Plooy said they needed the experience of playing in the Cape - something they've lost in the domestic system.
