Kallis on Will Jacks' wonder catch: 'It's one of the best I've ever seen'

Pretoria Capitals assistant coach Jacques Kallis was spellbound by Will Jacks' stunning boundary catch against the Joburg Super Kings at the Wanderers on Tuesday night.

Jacks, an England international, shuttled around the boundary to take a beautiful one-handed catch near deep square-leg after Gerald Coetzee got hold of a delivery from Eathan Bosch.

Kallis quipped that the catch should have fallen under the tournament's catch-a-million competition which has been increased to R2-million as the Highveld games have offered more catching opportunities for spectators compared to coastal games.

Kallis is also a hall of famer from a catching perspective, with this worldie against Pakistan 23 years ago being an example.

"Jeez, that was a great catch and probably one of the better catches I have ever seen," Kallis said.

"I still have to ask him whether he was trying to save the ball from going for six or trying to catch it, but it certainly was one of the best catches I've ever seen.

"I suppose that's the entertainment one gets from T20 cricket. It was such a good catch, it should be part of that competition."

Jacks' catch didn't have an impact in the bigger scheme of things from a result perspective as the Super Kings kicked off their home run of games with a six-run win.

Where Leus du Plooy's 75* allowed the hosts to set what became a defendable total, the Capitals didn't have a set batter to guide the chase.

The Capitals had three batters in Phil Salt (29), Jacks (16), Theunis de Bruyn (18), Shane Dadswell (22) and Jimmy Neesham (24) all getting starts, but not kicking on.
