Jimmy Thelin makes Aberdeen FC vow as he explains why he's 'perfect match' for the Dons

Jimmy Thelin believes he is a "perfect match" for Aberdeen and has promised to try and deliver front-foot attacking football for the Red Army next season.

The 46-year-old has agreed a deal to take over at Pittodrie in the summer, when he will step down from current club Elfsborg, who he led to a second place finish in the Swedish top tier last year, missing out on the Allsvenskan title to Malmo in goal difference. The Elfsborg hierarchy fought tooth and nail to keep their man, but Thelin has revealed that the opportunity to take up the reins in the Granite City in June was too good to turn down.

In an interview with Red TV, he said: "I have always had good dialogue with the club and the director Stefan about finding a good solution when the right club came with an approach. The feelings I have got from Aberdeen, the fans and the support from Dave (Cormack), Alan (Burrows) and Steven (Gunn) made it feel like a good opportunity.

"I also like the intensity of the league and speed of the game. In my way, I always like to search what the club is looking for. I need to believe in it and them to believe in me so we can do it together and go in the same direction.

"I really feel like this is a perfect match, The timing is good and hopefully with the staff and everyone around the club we can become a part of their history."

"For me it's always important that they are genuine and have passion for the club. It was like that when I signed with Elfsborg as I could see the fire and passion they send out about the club. I got these same feelings when I met Dave (Cormack), Alan (Burrows) and Steven (Gunn) and I want to share that with them, the fans and everyone in the city.

The Swede will also be joined at his new club by his trustee
