Jimmy Garoppolo urged to sign for 'ideal' AFC team to set himself up for 2023

ESPN analyst Mike Tannenbaum believes that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo should be looking to join the Cleveland Browns this offseason. 

Jimmy Garoppolo is in a bit of a weird spot at the moment when it comes to his place in the NFL. It’s pretty clear that he won’t be seeing the field with his current team anytime soon, with the San Francisco 49ers moving on to Trey Lance as their quarterback.

It looks to all the world as if his best option is to get a trade away, with reports emerging that the 49ers, even though they could have kept Garoppolo on for another year whilst Lance developed, are going to help him find a tram as they have put themselves open to offers.

But dispute that being the case for more than two weeks at this stage, nobody has come forward with an offer that the 49ers are willing to accept, if indeed any offers have come forward at all. However recent news in the NFL might mean that aspect is going to change pretty soon. 

As you’re probably aware at this stage, the Cleveland Browns are having their own issues at quarterback right now, with Deshaun Watson currently in limbo over the length of his suspension following his sexual misconduct allegations. 

He was initially suspended for 6 games by Judge Sue L Robinson, however the NFL have announced that they will appeal the decision, with the belief being that they will try and force the suspension to be a full year and possible financial penalties as well for Watson.

That appeal process still has some way to go, but if the league are successful, then Watson would be forced to sit out the whole 2022 season, with Jacoby Brissett taking over an offense that has all the potential to be a real force in the league with the likes of Kareem Hunt,
