Cleveland Browns: Reporter makes big statement on potential Jimmy Garoppolo trade

Reporter Mary Kay Cabot has given her thoughts on Jimmy Garoppolo joining the Cleveland Browns. 

The Cleveland Browns are having issues at quarterback right now, with Deshaun Watson currently suspended following his sexual misconduct allegations. 

He was initially suspended for 6 games by Judge Sue L Robinson, which might have made the Browns stay where they were with regards to the quarterback position, hoping to just tread water for the initial stages of the season before letting Watson take over where he might lead them on a charge deep into the playoffs. 

However, he was instead suspended for 11 games, which changed how the Browns are likely to handle their quarterback situation heading into the 2022 season. Jacoby Brissett is currently the starter, taking over an offense that has all the potential to be a real force in the league with the likes of Kareem Hunt, Nick Chubb, Amari Cooper, David Njoku and Donovan Peoples-Jones, but with their regular starter out for an extended length of time, they do have the option of bringing someone in from the outside to help them.

That’s where Jimmy Garoppolo comes in.

Garoppolo is facing a very uncertain future with the San Francisco 49ers, with them having drafted his long-term replacement in the form of Trey Lance, and even though he has struggled at times this preseason, the belief is that he will be the starter, leaving Garoppolo to either be a very expensive backup, or to be traded away. 

Going into the final year of his contract, he needs every opportunity he can get to show that he still has something to offer in the league, and an 11-game spell in Cleveland, possibly even longer depending on how well he’s performing, could be the way to go about it.
