Jim White left heartbroken by Scotland elimination as Simon Jordan shows no sympathy

Jim White was captured sinking to his knees as Scotland’s time at Euro 2024 came to a heartbreaking end.

Steve Clarke’s side were tasked with earning a win over a Hungary side, who had lost both of their other games in Group A. Scotland started strongly, backed by the Tartan Army, and dominated the ball, but struggled to create chances as they strived to become history-makers and reach the next round.

They fumed as their appeals for a penalty were ignored by the officials before the game’s dramatic finale. Defender Grant Hanley saw his opportunity to be the hero saved by goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi but Scotland continued to search for a goal, pushing men forward for a corner in the final moments of added time, only to be stung on the counter-attack by Kevin Csoboth’s 100th-minute winner.

A video shared on talkSPORT’s social media channels showed presenter White reacting to the game’s final moments, including the broadcaster’s eyes lighting up as Ryan Christie’s shot was saved by Gulacsi from a tight angle.

The 67-year-old, like all Scotland fans, was living every moment as the team’s hopes dangled by a thread - and could not help but sink to his knees at the sight of Hungary’s last-gasp goal.

The footage was filmed by ex-Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan, who was seen beaming at his talkSPORT colleague’s misery. It means that Scotland’s quest to go beyond the group stage continues, with the country’s unfortunate streak extending to 12 major tournaments.
