Jesse Marsch reveals how Leeds United can ‘find goals’, details positive outlook despite defeat

New Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch has revealed the small tweak which can help his team to ‘find goals’, following their 1-0 loss to Leicester City.

Marsch took charge of the Whites for the first time after being appointed on February 28 to replace Marcelo Bielsa. His team showed some signs of promise but, despite having several good chances, could not get past the impressive Kasper Schmeichel in goal.

Leeds went behind in the 67th minute as Harvey Barnes linked up with Kelechi Iheanacho before finishing into the bottom corner.

And they could not find an equaliser before the final whistle, making it 14 defeats this campaign for the West Yorkshire outfit.

Marsch certainly has work to do to get Leeds away from the relegation zone. But he was noticeably upbeat during a post-match interview with BT Sport.

“I have a fresh perspective,” the American said (via BBC Sport). “I look at the faces on the team and obviously they are disappointed because they know they have played well and deserved a result.

“After four days together and to have changed a lot of the tactics, I am really proud of the group to have stayed so stable at the back, not to have given much away and to have controlled so much of the match.

“I don’t like to be screaming from the bench so much, but for me it is a good performance, there was clarity on the pitch and it was a good game from us.

“I understand there is stress, but we have to stay clear and maintain a clear, fresh mindset.”

The manager then explained how Leeds can add to their goalscoring tally: “I saw we had the lion’s share of chances and shots, with a bit more calmness we will find goals.
