Jesse Marsch hints at Leeds United line-up switch ahead of Aston Villa clash

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has hinted that he may look to bring Adam Forshaw into the starting lineup against Aston Villa, after the midfielder was limited to a substitute appearance in the 1-0 defeat to Leicester City.

In the absence of Kalvin Phillips this season, Forshaw has become a key member in midfield following two years on the sidelines, where he missed 71 games through a hip injury.

Marsch commented on why he left the experienced midfielder out of his first game in charge. Where he stated: “This was the group where most of them were able to train through the week and work through things on the pitch a little bit.

"“I spoke to Adam before the match and told him that just because the fact he wasn't able to train throughout the week and we had a few other guys that only had modified training.

“We needed to put as many players who were 100 per cent on the pitch from the start as we could.

"“I'm pleased with every single performance from every single guy.

"“I've been watching these games, these guys, they run and fight and work for each other so much and I'm just trying to guide these efforts to help each other and to play as a unit.”

Leeds currently sit 16th in the Premier League, just two points above Burnley who currently occupy the final relegation place in 18th.

With Everton seemingly free falling with just one win in their last five league appearances in 17th below The Whites, Marsch and his men will be keen to distance themselves from the relegation fight, with a win against Steven Gerrard and Aston Villa on Thursday.
